THE CLOUD OF UNKNOWING PDF

I recently discovered an old water logged notebook with this dated inscription:

“3 a.m. 5/19/97 I will make this film”.

I remember that night; or morning, depending on how you look at it. I was desperately trying to raise the necessary funds to make my first feature film and had essentially exhausted all avenues and lost hope when I bolted out of bed in the middle of the night with a plan to make the film with or without money. I wrote those lines in a makeshift journal along with a detailed description of how I was going to do it. That’s when doors finally began to open. Hal Hartley stepped in and with several credit cards we made The Cloud Of Unknowing on a Mini DV camera for roughly $20,000. I am forever indebted to him, the actors, and everyone who worked on this film. We shot the entirety of the film in two weeks in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Home, really.

The film went on to debut at the inaugural Tribeca Film Festival in their World Cinema Competition, festivals throughout Europe and Asia, and then distributed through Possible Films.

For a short period of time, as a launch party for this new website, I am streaming the film for free on this site; albeit in a low-res format. Scroll to the bottom of this page to watch. Enjoy!
